A frequently asked question in a Divorce Lawyers Office is: How much will my divorce cost?

If your case is not contested, I offer a FLAT FEE rate. This is not a 'retainer' or down payment. It is the entire fee that will be charged. It does not include additional property transfer documents, such as deeds or QDROs. The rates are as follows:

Kent County: No children: $600 plus costs
Kent & Ottawa County: w/children: $1000 plus costs
Ottawa County: No children: $800 plus costs

Contested cases are handled by the hour. Our firms hourly rate is: $200. Divorce Defense is also handled at this rate.

The costs to file a divorce are as follows:

Filing fee = $150
For cases with children: FOC fee = $80 (now payable at finalization of case)

Most cases will also require a service of process fee to be paid. This fee varies and averages about $30. And finally, most cases will require a Motion fee for entry of the judgment. This fee is $20.
